Corpus Christi, as a Body of Christ, is where we belong. by Erin Lunde (1st Grade Parent)

For our family, the decision of where our daughter would attend school was always easy. We were married at Corpus Christi Church in 2008, we have been parishioners since 2009, and my husband and daughter were both baptized by Fr. Leo. The community that makes Corpus Christi School a truly special place begins with the equally unique parish community. As a toddler, my daughter Ellie quickly caught on that if she gave the offering to a certain usher, he would give her raisins. Since she put the cause and reaction relationship together, she has made sure to give her own money along with our weekly envelope ever since.

As Ellie finished up her years of preschool, it was without hesitancy that we applied to Corpus Christi School. Beginning with the parish leadership to Mr. Sahlman and the administrative team, to the teachers and staff, and to the diverse families - our community is what makes us Corpus Christi, the Body of Christ. What we want for our daughter is what we want for all of the students: an inclusive environment that engages in whole child development, academic excellence, spiritual development, and an awareness of how to serve others.

Our two years as parents at Corpus Christi School have been everything we could have wanted for our family. The teachers, staff, and administration care deeply for all of the children. It has been more prevalent during the pandemic how lucky we are to be a part of the Corpus Christi Family. Ms. Knox, our first grade teacher and Mrs. Moradi, our aide, have found ways to reach the different learners, both during distanced learning and more recently in hybrid learning. Ms. Knox has made herself available whenever we needed to check in. She has also included lessons about resilience and growth mindset. To say we are blessed is an understatement.

From the perspective of a parent, Corpus Christi School is far more than a building, or a mere space for my child to learn over the course of nine years. It is the community amongst the faculty, children, and families alike that make the Holy Spirit visible. Through daily morning prayer, crab feeds, golf tournaments, and parent parties - the soul of Corpus Christi is the community. It is what makes us the Body of Christ.
