Catholic Schools Week Review

Wrapping up Catholic Schools Week was bittersweet. It was a busy week for our school celebrating the different parts of what makes our Corpus Christi School Family special. Here are some reflections from students and staff members about our fun-filled week!

GRANDPARENTS DAY by Hannah and Julia

On January 27th, we celebrated Grandparents and Special Friends Day here at Corpus Christi.  Students invited their grandparents or special friends for Mass and school visit. The Mass was a beautiful celebration. After Mass, everyone went to the gym, beautifully decorated, for a small breakfast treat; donut holes, coffee, yogurt, fruit, bagels, and bread were served.. The students enjoyed a 45 minute recess, to be able to show their visitors around the school. In the classrooms, the teachers greeted the visitors with a warm welcome. Students were also able to show them around the science lab, resource rooms, the library and the technology room. Grandparents day was a blast! I hope more Corpus Christi families can attend next year.

STUDENT APPRECIATION DAY by Anna

Student appreciation is celebrated during Catholic Schools Week, where students are appreciated by our lovely staff. They treated us with a free dress day and no homework! Student appreciation day is a special day here at Corpus Christi because it is a day of appreciation to the students who have worked so hard to reach their academic, spiritual and personal goals. This day is a great time for self-reflection and just a fun day, since we don’t have anything to do that day that would make us stressed.

STAFF APPRECIATION DAY  by Ms. Kelsey

When was the last time someone escorted you to lunch? On January 30th, we celebrated our School Staff members. I think one of my favorite things about staff appreciation day is this small moment. Yes, free food is great. But I so look forward to having a student greet me and walk me to lunch. It may seem silly. It may seem even more silly considering that the walk from my desk to the faculty room takes less than ten seconds. But oh, how I look forward to those ten seconds with my friend.

OVERALL REFLECTION by Marisa

My favorite part about Catholic Schools Week is getting no homework and seeing my grandparents at school because that makes them really happy and we don't have to worry about doing any homework on our special day. Catholic Schools Week is also a great opportunity for kids to show their appreciation to the teachers and staff on Teacher Appreciation Day; this is another one of my favorite parts of Catholic Schools Week. Because our teachers and staff feel special and it's good to make them feel appreciated, in my opinion, since they teach you a lot about life and love. Celebrating all the different parts of Catholic Schools allow us to cherish each other and be grateful to be a part of this wonderful community.
