For the 2nd week of advent we show our peace, God says“You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is focused on You because He trusts in You” (Isaiah 26:3). Inner peace is a big part of connecting to God as it continues to focus on his strength and fills us with Him. Your inner peace gives you a stronger connection to God. If stress is getting to you these days, and anxiety is taking over your life, choose to trust God. You can connect with him and draw from his patience and wisdom as you take each step throughout your life. He will guide you through the maze of life if you ask Him to. Choosing to trust God with those blind corners in your life will take you down the road to inner peace. Choosing not to trust Him will take you down the road to stress and worry. Inner peace is there for the choosing.
Peace with others begins with understanding that God has called us to be peacemakers in our world. Mr. Sahlman at morning announcements has asked us how we can spread our peace to others, saying smile to others today. We can also spread peace by being kind to others, helping out at home. Is there somewhere in your own world where you can be a peacemaker this Christmas Season? Don’t miss the blessing God promises in your life as you respond to His call to be a peacemaker in your own circle.
“Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called the children of God” (Matthew 5:9). When we spread our peace we feel good about ourselves and God calls to us asking for our kindness as it spreads. To make the most of this advent week, please join us in praying the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi:
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy… Divine Master; Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
