“Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”

Can you believe our annual Walk-A-Thon has come and gone? We started with our school families as our home, leading us into the intuitive teaching of wisdom, and our bold courage to make a difference. As we wrap up our CCS Yellow Brick Road adventure, we want to direct our attention to what seems like the foundation of our community,
the heart.
Our student co-writer this week interviewed students, sharing a quote by the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz. “A heart is not judged by how much you love; but how much you are loved by others.” This quote is significant to our school community because upon asking several students in different grades, to share one kindness that they witness or something that they have done for others; this is what they said.
“When my grandma gave me cookies.”
“My friend helps me with my homework.”
“I sometimes make breakfast for my sister.”
“I complimented my friend today.”
“I share my pens with my classmates.”
“Mrs.Twomey helps me with my work in class.”
“My sister made me chapstick.”
We all have a purpose in life; sometimes it takes us a while to understand it, but ultimately, we find our sense of meaning, our sense of direction. As a Catholic educational community, we impart the Christian message with the history and traditions of the Catholic church, as well as the development of the whole child: spiritually, academically, socially, and physically. We, as a community, do it all together. The heart of the Corpus Christi School Community is each one of us: students, parents, teachers, staff, and more. Each and everyone of us has a purpose, we all bring a sense of meaning to the community.
We encourage you, today and everyday, to spread the joy, kindness, and love in your hearts. We always have a choice; so let us choose our hearts, the vital part of our families, our communities, and our faith. Let us choose love.
We would like to conclude our Walk-A-Thon blog series with a thank you to everyone that made the fundraiser a success. You are the heart Corpus Christi School Community. And, “Together, WE can do GREAT things.” - Mother Teresa
