Wisdom in Us

As October rolled in quickly on us, this week’s Parent-Teacher conferences bring mixed feelings from the students, parents, and staff alike. Teachers are looking forward to getting to know their students’ families, parents are eager to ask questions, and some students are already nervous about their grades or are still working on self-regulating to the “green zone”.

Many people mistake wisdom for education. Wisdom teaches us to apply our knowledge and skills in our day-to-day lives. Knowing how to apply them is another form of wisdom. Here at Corpus Christi School, we focus on creating an educational community to support the parents, as primary educators, in nurturing and developing students as a whole child. Teaching wisdom includes an intuitive element, an insight from what we learn everyday. It is a continual process to promote life-long service and citizenship.

In the story of The Wizard of Oz, the scarecrow longs for a brain. He says, “if you have brains, and it is worth a lot of bother to be able to think properly”. As we move forward into the school year, the season, and into the holidays, we want to encourage everyone in our Corpus Christi community, to emulate wisdom amongst others; uphold good values, engage in our diverse culture, and embrace our spirituality, for the roles God created for us.

Knowledge pioneers wisdom. So, let us learn together, from one another, and create a society that can empower our future leaders to spread all the good that we can in our world.
